What is Vicodin?

Vicodin is a combination of hydrocodone and acetaminophen. Hydrocodone is a powerful pain killer, and acetaminophen is a less potent, over-the-counter drug that enhances hydrocodone's effects on the body. Potential for Abuse?

Like all opioids, hydrocodone is highly addictive and studies have shown lab rats will self-administer the drug. Severe withdrawal can occur if hydrocodone is taken heavily for a prolonged period.

Serious Vicodin side effects:

• Vicodin can ccause serious harm to the liver if overdosed on
• Slow breathing
• Fatigue
• Seizures
• Urinary problems
• Nausea, stomach pain
• Loss of hunger
• Darker urine and clay-colored feces
• Jaundice
  

Less serious Vicodin side effects:

• Anxiety
• Nausea
• Headaches
• Blurry sight
• Ringing of the ears
• Dry mouth

• Vicodin should never be mixed with alcohol.  Even small doses of alcohol and acetaminophen and/or hydrocodone can result in death
